Take a look at what grocery store finds ended up in this dietitian’s cart this month.

Do you feel like the months are flying by? For me, January felt like an eternity, but now February and March flew by. I’m okay with it because the consistently warmer weather is in the near future. Right now, New Jersey can’t make up its mind. Yesterday I was bundled up in my winter jacket and today I’m in capris and a windbreaker.

Gourmet Garden Lightly Dried Herbs

I like using fresh herbs in my recipes, but often times I buy a full bunch and the leftovers go bad waiting to be used in the refrigerator. My pantry is stocked with dried herbs, but sometimes a recipe or a garnish needs a pop of freshness at the end. Enter: Gourmet Gardens Lightly Dried Herbs. First off, they are already chopped, so that’s a timesaver right there. Also, being lightly dried, they can last up to 4 weeks in the refrigerator after opened.

Quaker Oat Beverage

There are so many dairy-free milk alternatives on the shelves of the grocery store and stores are making room now for oat milk. Even coffee shops are offering oat milk lattes. Like most plant-based milk (besides soy milk), it does not meet the protein mark like regular cow’s milk does but does serve as a lower calorie option with the added benefit of 4 grams of fiber per cup. This oat milk does have an edge up compared to other dairy-free milk alternatives, is that it is very creamy and can be used whereever you would use cow’s milk.

Cauliflower Crackers

Cauliflower is literally made into everything these days. I was intrigued by these as I feel like they are trying to be a “healthier” Cheez-It. Using various plant-based flours as the base, the cheesy flavor is there, but there is a distinct cauliflower aftertaste. But alas, in my opinion, not as good as the real deal. Both are still a processed snack, so enjoy along with a balanced diet. Try them and let me know what you think!

Dave’s Killer Bread English Muffins

When I was a retail dietitian, I had the opportunity to learn about Dave’s Killer Bread when it first hit the grocery store shelves. Learning about their brand story, I felt passionate about their mission. Bonus, their bread is absolutely delicious! It’s been great seeing their brand grow with new product lines, with bread to bagels and now English muffins.

Nohmad Chocolate

I’m a sucker for chocolate. This was a definite impulse purchase as I was killing time strolling through the store, after the store making an announcement that their credit card machines were down. Made with maple sugar, each bite definitely has a subtle maple flavor. My favorite part was the crunchy coffee bean bits. At $5.99 per bar, I think I’ll wait for a coupon to try one of their other flavors. I think next I want to try their creamy coconut chocolate.
