A BBQ low in sugar and veggie-based baking flour – Are you intrigued? These are just two of this Registered Dietitian’s Grocery Store Finds this month.

While fancy packaging and marketing do sometimes catch your eye, always look further into the item by reading the nutrition label and ingredients to tell if it’s a good match for you or not. We are all human and any reasoning like that is sometimes thrown out the window when food choices are selected from simply what you are craving and that’s okay too. You’ll see what I mean with my last pick of this post.

Caulipower Baking Mix

caulipower cauliflower-based baking mix

A baking mix made with cauliflower? I’m intrigued. I have yet to bake with it yet. I just picked it up this week. I like already that you can swap it in any recipe cup-for-cup. I am happy to see dried cauliflower as the first ingredient, then followed by brown rice flour, and other whole grain flours. Have you tried this before? I’m trying to decide what kind of recipe I want to try making with this first!

Skinny Dipped Almonds

skinny dipped almonds - dark chocolate raspberry

While I’m not really a fan of calling any foods, “skinny” xyz, I couldn’t keep this snack a secret from you guys. Whole almonds are dipped in a thin layer of artisan dark chocolate and finished with a sprinkle of raspberry. I love the raspberry chocolate combination. They also have dark chocolate cocoa and dark chocolate espresso flavors.

MUSH Overnight Oats

I occasionally watch Shark Tank. I’m of course always intrigued by the food pitches to the sharks. Wild Friends was one brand that was on Shark Tank that appears in my grocery cart often. MUSH is another Shark Tank win. While overnight oats are pretty simple to make on your own, this is great for convenience. I can see myself grabbing this for a quick breakfast or snack when I am on the road or traveling. The lid even has a built-in spoon. With simple ingredients and dates to naturally sweeten the oat mix, it was delicious. The texture and taste was an overall win.

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que Sauce

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que Sauce

One of my friends is known as the “condiment queen”. While I enjoy condiments too, they can also be a sneaky addition of a lot of added sugar, especially in a condiment like BBQ sauce. Another brand of BBQ sauce (I won’t name any names) has 16 grams of sugar per two tablespoons. Dinosaur, in my opinion, has even better flavor and 6 grams of sugar per two tablespoons. Try it for yourself!

Tate’s Bake Shop Cookies

—————-

Tate's Bake Shop chocolate chip cookies

This impulse purchase was totally contributed by marketing. I listen to z100 every morning on the radio and for the past 2 weeks every morning they either had an ad or was talking about how delicious Tate’s Bake Shop Cookies are. These were on the end cap of the grocery store and I just had to see what all the fuss was about. I’m usually not a fan of crispy cookies. I’m more of a soft and chewy chocolate chip cooking kind of gal. I must admit this is a pretty dang good crispy chocolate chip cookie. I can see these cookies being great for assembling homemade ice cream sandwiches.
